We can help provide support, problem-solving skills and enhance your coping strategies. By obtaining a better understanding of yourself you can learn new ways to cope with your own issues that negatively impact your relationship with others. We will help you discover new ways to solve problems in your family or marriage and help you learn some new behaviors and patterns.

What should I expect during a counseling session at Marriage Center of Arkansas?

When in counseling we will discuss any challenging situations in your life and see what your goals are for the counseling sessions. People have many different reasons for coming to counseling. Some may be going through major life transitions or need assistance navigating a marriage, people or their own low self- esteem, depression and or anxiety. We are here to help you meet the challenges you are facing in your life. We go where you are at and take you in the direction to meet the goals you have.

How long does counseling last at Marriage Center of Arkansas?

Our sessions range from 45 minutes to 1 hour. Since everyone has different challenges the length of counseling does vary. The average is about 10 sessions but this is not set in stone. Some individuals want support throughout a difficult situation and others want Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). We are here to help you meet your challenges of life and this may be short or long term.

What variety of approaches are used in therapy?

We use a variety of approaches to meet the unique needs of each client. Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) and Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) are some of the therapeutic approaches we use. We use an integrative holistic approach that is tailored to each individuals needs and goals.

What is EMDR?

EMDR uses rapid sets of eye movements to help you update bothersome experiences in order for you to integrate these memories into a present-day perspective vs the past. EMDR uses your positive and negative thoughts to help you work through troubling memories. The eye movements can dampen the power of emotionally charged memories of past disturbing events. This bilateral stimulation can be done with taping and or eye movement.

We cannot acknowledge you as a patient to anyone unless you authorize us to do so via a HIPPA release-of-information form. However, there are limitations to confidentiality. Please refer to the privacy notice you receive at your first appointment.
